Hill Country Ride for Aids

April 13 @ 6:00 pm 7:00 pm

The Hill Country Ride for AIDS (HCRA) is a non-profit that organizes the largest fundraiser in Central Texas for HIV/AIDS services. A family-friendly and festive bike ride through the hill country, the Ride raises funds that are given directly to nine local nonprofits who help those in our community affected by HIV/AIDS. In the past 23+ years the Ride has raised over $12 million. The Ride has been voted “Best Ride” in Austin twice by the Austin Chronicle and the “Best Cycling Event” by Austin Fit Magazine three consecutive years. It is a beloved community event with an amazingly loyal and supportive following .

Alissa Magrum will join us to tell us about this years event and the history of this annual ride and community event.

Alissa has more than 25 years of non-profit expertise and has worked in Austin with Communities In Schools of Central Texas, as the Executive Director of Colin’s Hope and now as the Acting Ride Director for the Hill Country Ride for AIDS. She currently serves in leadership roles for Safe Kids Austin, Central Texas Drowning Prevention Action Team, the National Drowning Prevention Advisory Board and is a co-founder of Families United to Prevent Drowning.

Alissa’s passion for the Hill Country Ride for AIDS began 24 years ago on the very first ride and has continued since as a rider, volunteer, donor and now as the Acting Ride Director.  One of her favorite things about the HCRA is the incredible community of kindness, hope and love that each and every person who is part of the ride exudes.
