Please join us to hear from local Entrepreneur Drea Burbank about the Empulse App – helping the homeless without hurting our economy.
Drea is an MD-technologist and serial entrepreneur applying high-tech in critical sectors.
Her recent projects include artificial intelligence and machine-learning, cybersecurity, near-infrared spectroscopy, functional MRI, stem-cells and tissue-engineering, vascular composite allograft, 3D printing, virtual reality, blockchain, specialist networks, nanotechnology, voice-recognition software, microbiome sequencing, web/app product design, business strategy, startup strategy, social enterprise, popular science writing, and marketing. In global health she develop high-tech for low-resource environments.
Her career interest is in using technology to promote population health. Industry-agnostic to this aim she is passionate about reducing barriers to innovation at the intersection of research, technology, and medicine. She agrees with Karen Kilroy “I can’t help but wonder how much further technology could go if we solved things for people who had the biggest problems first — and then made games.”

Drea’s most recent venture is the Empulse app, an easy way for tourists to give to the homeless, without hurting the local economy! She’ll present some of the research behind the app and talk about community implementation and ongoing research projects.
