Sunday FUNDay 2017 – Cheers, Serve, Change the World

Well, another successful Sunday Funday is in the books and I couldn’t be more proud to be a member of ACRC. Our annual fundraiser is a little different each year and, to me, that’s the best part. This year we set out to raise $3000 to start the first ACRC scholarship fund for the members of Austin Clubhouse to attend New Horizons computer training labs. The final tally came in not just over the goal, but almost double…$5575 raised, whoop whoop!!

Opportunity does not come to all of us and I know, I for one, take that for granted sometimes. There are so many people in our great city that, if given the opportunity, would and can change their lives for the better and therefore, our city for the better. Austin has shown time and time again that there is no shortage of love when it comes to lending a helping hand. And if your hand can be used to help another person get up, lead them to an opportunity and change the course of their life, I hope that opportunity YOU have doesn’t pass you by. I know I stand with a small but very passionate group when it comes to providing opportunities to the people who need it the most. ACRC is doing just that for Austin Clubhouse members to obtain the computer education and training necessary to build employable skills in our city that is hiring!!

Austin grew by a net 159 people a day in 2016 with no signs of slowing down and our job market is driving that (along with our “Keepin’ it Weird” image). Opportunity is all around all of us, so we got together and decided to show that to a small but VERY special group who really, really wants it. There is no doubt in my mind, or anyone else’s at ACRC, that we are doing good in our city and the opportunities that we are providing will make a difference in the members lives at Austin Clubhouse.

My deepest THANK YOU to all of our sponsors, participants and donors that made all of this possible…YOU SEIZED THE OPPORTUNITY!!
